QS World University Rankings 2023

<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Quacquarelli Symonds (QS),</strong> London-based global higher education has released the <strong>19th</strong> edition of the world’s most consulted international university ranking. <strong>The QS World University Rankings 2023</strong>
 ranks the top 900 universities based on 8 key ranking indicators. This 
is the largest ever ranking with 1,418 institutions across one hundred 
locations up from 1300 in the previous year.</p>

<p><strong>Key points:</strong></p>
<ul><li style="text-align: justify;">The ranking was topped by the United States(US)’s <strong>Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)</strong> followed by the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom(UK) and Stanford University(US).</li><li style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru,</strong>
 Karnataka, ranked 155 gaining 31 places since 2022 ranking and emerged 
as the fastest rising South Asian university among the top 200 
universities.</li><li style="text-align: justify;">41 Indian varsities have be</li><li style="text-align: justify;">en found place in the rankings. Among QS
 World University Rankings top 200 varsities, The Indian Institute of 
Science (IISc), Bengaluru (155th) topped among Indian universities,

<p> <strong>CSIR-UGC NET 2022</strong>: National Testing Agency (NTA) will 
close the window to raise objections to the preliminary answer key of 
CSIR-UGC joint NET 2022 today, October 3. Those who have complaints 
about the preliminary answer key can submit it on csirnet.nta.nic.in up 
to 11:50 pm. </p><p>The entrance test was held from September 16 to 18 for 2,21,746 candidates. Preliminary answer key was released on October 1. </p><p>Candidates'
 feedback will be reviewed by NTA and necessary changes will be 
reflected on the final answer key. CSIR UGC NET result will be prepared 
using the final key. </p><p>“If the challenge of any candidate in 
respect of any answer key is found to be correct, the answer key thereof
 will be revised and used for processing the results of all the 
candidates who attempted that question. No individual candidate will be 
informed about the acceptance/non-acceptance of his/her challenge,” NTA 
said. </p><p>CSIR-UGC NET is for Junior Research Fellowships (JRFs) 
awarded by the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) 
and for Lectureship (LS)/Assistant Professor posts. The exam is held in

<p>The University Grants Commission will do away with the compulsory publication of two papers for PhD students, UGC vice-chairman Bhushan Patwardhan said on Wednesday. He was speaking on the sidelines of a private university programme in the city.<br /><br />This announcement comes after it came to light that the ‘two compulsory publication’ rule led to many bogus publications, bringing down the overall quality of PhDs in the country. This was pointed by a report submitted by a committee headed by Balaram, former director of IISc. In a large number of cases, theses do not conform to international standards. <br /><br />The committee also noted that there has been a massive increase in PhD and MPhil courses - it increased from 77,798 in 2010 to 161,412 in 2017.
