Eligibility:

<ul>
<li>M.Sc./ M. Tech./ M. Pharm./ M. V. Sc. with relevant subjects, 
Candidate should have also qualified in CSIR/UGC-JRF or DBT-JRF or 
DBT-BINC-JRF or UGC-RGNF or ICMR-JRF or DST-INSPIRE or GATE or GPAT. </li>
<li>Age limit: Candidate should be below 28 years as in age, as on 10th may 2019.</li>
</ul>
Selection process: 
Based on short-listing, Interview. 
How to apply: 
Interested and eligible candidates may fill-up the prescribed 
application form as available in ILS website (www.ils.res.in). Duly 
filled-up application along with self-attested copies of all relevant 
certificates and demand draft should be send to the “Director, Institute
 of Life Sciences, Nalco Square, Bhubaneswar-751023.” 
The application should reach the Institute on or before the last date. 
Applications received after the last date will not be accepted. The 
envelope should be super-scribed with “Application for PhD Program in 1)
 Cancer Biology 2) Infectious Disease Biology or 3) Plant Biotechnology 
& Human Genetics”. Candidates must mention clearly ONE of the 
research areas for which they are applying. Candidates interested to 
apply for more than one research area should send separate applications 
for each research area, with separate fees.

 The disciplines and areas in which the Programme to be offered (but not limited to) are: Disciplines:

<li>Civil Engineering (CE); </li>
<li>Computer Science and Engineering (CS); </li>
<li>Electronics and Communication Engineering (EC); </li>
<li>Electrical Engineering (EE); </li>
<li>Mechanical Engineering (ME); </li>
<li>Mathematics (MA); </li>
<li>Chemistry (CY); </li>
<li>Physics (PH); </li>
<li>Humanities and Social Sciences (HS). </li>
</ol>
 Categories of PhD Students: 
The Institute shall admit Ph. D students under the following categories: 
 Full Time: Scholars under this category shall work full time for the PhD courses/research. They may receive fellowship offered by the Institute as per MHRD norms / TEQIP guidelines or other funding agencies. <a href="http://nitmeghalaya.in/nitm/phd_scholarship.html">http://nitmeghalaya.in/nitm/phd_scholarship.html</a> 
  Sponsored (Part-Time):Employees from Industries, Corporate Houses, Research and Development (R and D) Organizations and Faculties of Senior Colleges with minimum working experience of 5 years, out of which 2 years should be from the current organization, will be eligible for applying to the Sponsored (Part Time) PhD Programme. Eligibility: 
 For Full Time Scholars: Master’s degree in Engineering/ Science/ Technology/ Humanities and Social Sciences/ Management Sciences/ or Master’s degree in the allied subjects with consistently good academic record and a minimum of 60% (55% in case of Humanities and Social Sciences) marks or an equivalent CGPA in the Master’s degree. Candidates with B.E. / B. Tech. with an aggregate of 75% marks or equivalent GPA with valid GATE score will also be eligible. 
For Sponsored (Part Time Scholars): Master’s degree in Engineering/ Science/ Technology/ Humanities and Social Sciences/ Management Sciences/ or Master’s degree in the allied subjects with consistently good academic record and a minimum of 60% (55% in case of Humanities and Social Sciences) marks or an equivalent CGPA in the Master’s degree. Candidates with B.E. / B. Tech. with an aggregate of 60% marks or equivalent CGPA are eligible Candidate’s age should not be more than 58. A certificate/declaration of sponsorship from the sponsoring body must be submitted by the applicant at the time of applying for application and admission process. Relaxation for SC/ST/PWD Candidates Eligibility criteria will be relaxed by 5% marks or 0.5 CGPA for SC/ST/PWD category applicants as per GOI Norms. How to apply:  
 Candidates can apply online. 
 Application Fees: 
 Application fees of Rs. 500/- for General/OBC and Rs. 250 for SC/ST candidates to be paid via online. No application fee to be paid by PWD candidates. 
 The status regarding the selection of candidates for the admission to the PhD Programme will be available at institute website (<a href="http://nitmeghalaya.in/nitmeghalaya">http://nitmeghalaya.in/nitmeghalaya</a> ) in due course. Shortlisted candidates will be informed through email only from NIT Meghalaya. Important dates:

<li>Written Test and Interview (Candidates are advised to make a plan for stay of 2 days {if required}): 24th May, 2019. </li>
<li>Display of Selected Candidates: 28th May, 2019. </li>
